7075 T651 aluminum plate is a lightweight aluminum-zinc alloy with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and high structural stability. As a member of the 7000 series heat-treatable aluminum alloys, it is well known for its outstanding performance in demanding machining applications.
After solution heat treatment and stress relief, the material reaches the T651 temper. This process significantly reduces internal residual stress during stretching, which helps improve overall mechanical strength and dimensional stability during machining.
With a tensile strength of 550–572 MPa, 7075 T651 plate can match or even approach the strength of some steels while still maintaining the lightweight advantages of aluminum. Compared with 6000 series aluminum alloys, it delivers much higher strength, making it an ideal choice for high-load and precision components where both strength and weight reduction are critical.
7075 T651 aluminum alloy has a hardness of about 150 HB, with very high tensile and yield strength. After heat treatment, the internal stress distribution of the alloy is optimized. This allows the material to resist crack initiation and crack growth under cyclic loading. As a result, 7075 aluminum plate performs very well under repeated elastic stress and long-term load conditions, making it suitable for high-fatigue applications.
After stress-relief stretching, 7075 T651 plate maintains stable thickness and length during cutting and machining. The shape and dimensions are not easily distorted, even in thick plate processing. It supports high-precision operations such as grinding and milling. By significantly reducing internal stress, the alloy achieves outstanding dimensional stability. This makes it ideal for CNC machining, thick plates, and precision components that require high strength and tight tolerances.
In the T651 temper, internal stress is greatly reduced, and the grain structure becomes more uniform and compact. This significantly improves mechanical strength and overall stability. The T651 heat treatment process includes controlled stretching, which effectively removes residual stress. As a result, the material delivers reliable performance in demanding structural and machining applications.
