7068 aluminum plate is a high-strength, lightweight Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy with excellent resistance to metal fatigue. It was specifically developed to replace other high-strength aluminum alloys in demanding applications.
As a member of the 7000 series heat-treatable aluminum alloys, 7068 aluminum offers outstanding mechanical performance and structural reliability. Its strength is close to that of conventional steel, while maintaining the key advantage of low weight.
Thanks to this unique balance of high strength, fatigue resistance, and lightweight performance, 7068 aluminum alloy plate is an ideal material choice for advanced industrial and high-load applications.
7068 aluminum plate is one of the strongest commercial aluminum alloys available today. Its tensile strength can reach 680–710 MPa, with a maximum of about 710 MPa. This performance is clearly higher than that of standard 7075 aluminum plate.
Because of its superior strength, 7068 aluminum can remain stable under high loads and repeated cyclic stress. In fatigue-prone environments, it helps reduce internal lattice distortion, stretching, and cracking caused by stress cycles. As a result, it significantly improves the service life of critical components.
7068 aluminum alloy combines very high mechanical strength with the natural lightweight properties of aluminum. This allows structures to maintain high load-bearing capacity while reducing overall weight. It is ideal for applications where strength and weight reduction are both critical.
After solution heat treatment and aging, 7068 aluminum can be supplied in T651 / T6511 tempers. These tempers undergo stress relief by stretching, which minimizes residual stress.
This process ensures high precision and flatness after CNC machining. It also helps maintain dimensional stability during complex and high-tolerance machining. For precision parts with strict accuracy requirements, 7068 aluminum plate is a reliable choice.
Compared with other high-strength 7000 series aluminum alloys, 7068 aluminum offers well-balanced corrosion resistance. Its performance can be further improved through anodizing, enhancing resistance to chemicals and acidic or alkaline environments. This makes it suitable for harsh operating conditions.
The mechanical strength of 7068 aluminum plate is close to that of many alloy steels, but its weight is much lower. For applications that require reduced inertia, higher efficiency, or improved performance, 7068 aluminum is a cost-effective and lightweight replacement for high-strength steel.
